Luke 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
Initially, this is Christ referring to the nation of Israel.
Matthew 23:37-39 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killed the prophets, and stoned them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, but you would not! (38) Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. (39) For I say unto you, You shall not see me from this day forward, till you shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
This verse of scripture also finds it's true and ultimate fulfillment in the last day Church (as a people), where those calling ourselves Christians deny the Lordship of Christ by the varying degrees we condone and justify habitual sins in our lives, when we systematically deny and denounce biblical holiness by the purposeful misinterpretation of scripture toward that end.
Romans 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
In other words, there are those who live in and love sin and their sinful lifestyles, so they interpret scripture in very specific ways! The first thing they have to do is get us to doubt and then deny biblical authority, so as to re-define Biblical holiness, what is and isn't sin.
This is different from those who are ignorant of God's word, and those who simply have some spiritual maturity and growing to do.
Even more directly are those who say they are Christian, while outright denying the Lordship of Christ. They will say that Christ was simply one enlightened, good teacher and miracle worker, but not God in the flesh, denying the very message of the gospel:
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
