The bible speaks about there being those who have a form of godliness (2 Tim 3:5). There are many Catholics, Jews,Muslims, etc, who are full of brotherly love for their fellow man! This fact is undeniable.
One of my past closest friends was (and I am sure still is) a staunch Catholic. She and her whole family were full of love for people and always did their best to help whoever needed it. At that time, they were one of the few white families that still lived in a particular area in the South Bronx, and no one messed with them. Not because of their religious beliefs, but because they were a loving part of that community. They exuded more love than I do! So, please don't consider this a judgment on character! One of the most helpful people to us at a financially excruciating time in our lives was a Nun (Lord forgive me, I cant remember her name) belonging to an Our Ladies of Mercy organization my wife worked for, that I don't believe any longer exists. However, having one does not detract from God's expectation of us having the other, which is scriptural holiness. Good works is not going to get us into heaven, neither is claiming a belief in scripture alone.
If we accept what is contrary to scripture at any one point, ALL of it becomes suspect! If we accept the words of man above and beyond what we find in the bible, anything and everything will be accepted as doctrine and seen as equal to the bible! This is exactly what we have happening today, worse than any time before, and sure to get even worse still.
1. “From the earliest ages of the catholic church a Christian people...."
- What is "Christian"? Who is "Christian"? Can I believe in whatever I want, and as long as I tie in Christ in some shape, form or fashion, I'm "Christian"?
This is why I stand for BIBLICAL Christianity.
IS WHAT WE BELIEVE SUPPORTED BY THE BIBLE AND THE BIBLE ALONE?
IS WHAT WE BELIEVE SCRIPTURALLY SOUND?
If it was just you, the bible, and the desire to want to know God and the truth of His word, would you come out of the other end with what you believe to be "christian"?
"whether in time of triumph or more especially in time of crisis, has addressed prayers of petition and hymns of praise and veneration to the Queen of Heaven."
- This act of worship, whether semantics are played here are not, of the goddess of heaven is of pagan origins first and foremost! The word "venerate" is LATIN in origin, which is the preffered language of the Vatican:
I think this is pretty revealing, as the goddess, Venus, is indeed the mother goddess for which many other mother goddesses are traced back to such as Astarte, Isis, Asherah, Ishtar, etc. Asherah, Ishtar and Astarte are all also called "goddess of the sea", which is also one of the titles given to the Catholic Mary.
Jeremiah 7:17-18 Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? (18) The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me [God] to anger.
Jeremiah 44:23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.
goddess worship! I believe it's exactly for this reason that He has included it in our scriptures! So, for those who truly want to know the truth of God, He says "Here it is!"
The concept of goddess worship is not new, just repackaged! Jews worship what they deem as the"female aspect of God" the Shekinah. This is NOT biblical! God is telling us that this does not bring Him glory or honor!
- The problem is that is not taught ANYWHERE in the BIBLE!
2. “In this matter We do not wish to propose a new truth to be believed by Christians,"
- And yet, this is exactly what they did AND CONTINUE TO DO!
"since the title and the arguments on which Mary’s queenly dignity is based have already been clearly set forth…From early times Christians have believed, and not without reason, that she of whom was born the Son of the Most High received privileges of grace above all other beings created by God…"
- You are being led to think, because of it's phrasing, that the belief in Mary as queen of heaven was believed and taught by the early disciples, but this is a lie and very intentionally misleading!
Since we say we are Christians, and agree that the bible is our foundation for our faith, show me where this is taught?
"And when Christians reflected upon the intimate connection that obtains between a mother and a son, they readily acknowledged the supreme royal dignity of the Mother of God.”
- No, we do not! This is not how biblically sound Christians think, therefore the person means "catholic", thereby making the two mutually exclusive!
Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: (10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
